SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Cynthia King has worked in the field of deafness since 1974. She has been a high school teacher, interpreter, researcher, and university instructor and administrator. Currently, Dr.King is Dean, ATLAS (Academic Technology, Library, and Archive Services) at Gallaudet University.

Dr. King is the editor of the only reading series developed for deaf children and has many publications and presentations related to reading, deafness, and technology. Many on her recent publications are online at http://academictech.gallaudet.edu/events.

Dr. King has been conducting research on computer-based media and captioning since the early 1980's. Dr. King's long-time dream of a system for online deafness-related videos was realized with publication of the Gallaudet Video Library in 2006.
