In November 2007, the Provost combined two separate units to form a new unit called ATLAS (Academic Technology, Library, and Archive Services) and appointed Dr. Cynthia M. King into the Dean position for that unit.
Our Mission Statements
ATLAS supports the Gallaudet University community in the development and enhancement of information literacy and technological competence. ATLAS provides resources, services, and tools to support learning, teaching, and scholarly and research activities of the Gallaudet community.
Academic Technology (AT) provides instructional and technical support for Gallaudet's online learning and academic systems and is dedicated to enhancing the Gallaudet community's academic success through uses of technology. AT promotes both technological competence and information literacy.
The University Library provides instructional, reference, and library collection services for the Gallaudet community, supporting uses of information resources and the development and enhancement of information literacy. The Library builds, maintains, and organizes the world's largest collection of deaf materials, as well as a collection of general materials, to support academic programs.
The University Archives preserves Gallaudet's unique educational, cultural, and historical heritage. Responsibilities include digitization, indexing, and accessibility of archival materials. The Archives also preserves the artifactual heritage of the Deaf community and provides services to researchers.
